Toyota rolls out a Hilux EV for Europe

The world’s first fully electric Toyota Hilux is coming to the EU countries soon, with a diesel version set to follow later.

The EV version ships exclusively with a Crew Cab, meaning four doors and two seat rows. It looks largely identical to its gas-powered counterpart unless you notice subtle tweaks in the front bumper and the radiator grille.

Powering the electric Hilux are two motors sending 205 Nm (151 lb-ft) of torque to the front end and 268 Nm (198 lb-ft) to the back. Power figures remain to be revealed. A 59.2-kWh battery pack comes rated at 257–380 km (160–236 miles) of range depending on use case. The cargo bed can carry up to 715 kilograms (1,576 lbs), and towing trailers is possible as long as they don’t exceed 1,600 kilos (3,527 lbs).

This is in stark contrast to the 2026 Toyota Hilux Diesel, which is depicted as an orange truck in the gallery above. It can carry 1,000 kg (2,204 lbs) and tow 3,500 kg (7,716 lbs). Rumors say its 2.8-liter engine outputs 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW) and receives assistance from a mild-hybrid add-on ensuring proper torque and fuel economy. All-electric driving is not an option, though.

Sales in the EU are scheduled for April. The diesel version is expected to follow in July.
