Scout Motors previews its first SUV concept

The revived Scout brand (established by Volkswagen, but independent) has posted the first sketch of its upcoming conceptual crossover SUV meant for the North American market. The car itself won’t premiere until next year, but you can now get an idea about its exterior.

The image shows what obviously looks like a modern off-roader: boxy outlines, flared fenders, high clearance and sculpted hood – all the boxes are ticked. Pulling details from the shadows also reveals a pair of headrests in the cabin, wrapped in a light-hued trim material.

Per Volkswagen, Scout will be resurrected with special attention paid to its heritage. As such, the marque’s cars will resemble those from the past. Simultaneously with the teaser reveal, the company launched multiple websites and social media accounts, saying it was interested in talking with the fans of the brand.

The marque’s plans for the future involve launching at least one more SUV and a pickup truck. All cars will be based on a proprietary new platform having nothing in common with the current Volkswagen EV platforms. The emphasis is expected to be on overlanding abilities, one of Scout’s most praised qualities.
