History’s most expensive VW Golf R sold out in minutes

The Volkswagen Golf R 333 Edition will be coming out in a production batch of just 333 units, but if you haven’t bought yours, time’s up. Despite only offering design improvements over stock version, the limited series has been swept off the pre-order shelves in eight minutes, the company reports.

In technical terms, the Golf R 333 in an R Performance spec delivering its usual 333 PS (328 hp / 245 kW) to the wheels from a 2.0-liter four-pot turbo. It mainly stands out thanks to its original body finish and Nappa leather trim, as well as an Akrapovic exhaust system that comes included.

Coming in at €76.410, it packs a €18,500 premium over the standard version. Despite that, all the production slots are already sold out. Live deliveries are expected to begin no sooner than October.
