Shortly before the opening of the Auto China 2026 expo in Beijing, Volkswagen has held a private event to introduce the media to a couple of pre-production EVs bound for the Chinese domestic market. Both the ID. Unyx 09 sedan and the ID. Aura T6 SUV ride on a new “CEA” platform co-developed with Xpeng and are slated for launch before the end of the year.
Starting with the ID. Aura T6, it resembles every other China-made SUV at once with a solid panel for the grille, interlinked headlights and taillights, and a sporty profile featuring wide C-pillars. The interior and the powertrain remain a mystery.
In turn, the ID. Unyx 09 takes after the ID. Unyx 08 SUV that went on sale in China not long ago. It spans around five meters (117 inches) long and boasts a squat, sporty body with a coupe-like rear.
On the high-tech front, Volkswagen promises us SAE Level 2 driving assist features and AI-powered voice assistants. More details should be revealed soon.
