2022 Volkswagen Jetta GLI shows up out in the open for the first time

Volkswagen debuted its sported-up Jetta GLI sedan at the Chicago Auto Show two years ago, and it looks like the model will soon be getting a facelift.

The manufacturer made no attempt to conceal the fact that it is a Jetta GLI. Note the modest-sized front splitter, the new VW badge, and the enlarged lower grille cells. It looks like the rear end may be getting a much more substantial overhaul, but the disguise wrap prevents us from drawing any conclusions.

The interior remains hidden from view, but it would be safe to expect revised trimming materials and a slightly refreshed infotainment unit. Revolutionary changes aren’t high on our expectation list.

The updated Jetts should debut in the third quarter of 2021, just as the new Golf GTI and R become available in the United States.
