VW refreshes its affordable Taigun for India

The Volkswagen Taigun crossover has undergone its first facelift since the debut in 2021. It mostly focused on the exterior while leaving the cabin intact, and introduced a new automatic transmission to the entry spec.

The whole car is still 4,221 mm long, 1,760 mm wide and 1,612 mm tall with 2,651 mm between the axles. Exterior changes are limited to new bumpers at both ends, the radiator grille and the lights all around. You’ll have to pay a premium for that connecting LED stripe between the headlights and the taillights. Wheels come in 16-inch and 17-inch sizes, and there are a couple of new body colors to choose from.

Inside, revised trimming materials are the only noticeable change. That, and opting for a sun hatch now gets you a full-fledged panoramic hatch instead. The base trim comes with analog dash gauges and a tiny multimedia display, but a digital dash and a 10.1-inch head unit are available in higher trims.

Power continues to be supplied by a 1.0-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine rated at 115 PS (113 hp / 85 kW) and a 1.5-liter turbo four-pot with 150 PS (148 hp / 110 kW). The former engine can be obtained with either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission – a step up from the old six-speed auto gearbox. The four-cylinder option is now only available with a seven-speed DCT – the old six-speed manual has been delisted. The drive stays on the front wheels with no option for AWD.

All prices should be posted in a matter of days, simultaneously with the sales launch.
