See a 1997 Volvo 850 R outdo everyone else on the autobahn

Volvo has a rich history of designing performance cars. One good example would be the 850 R, Sweden’s sportiest vehicle in the 1990s. This video will remind you why it was so popular.

The example shown is heavily tuned. Its 2.3-liter five-cylinder turbo engine churns out up to 480 PS (473 hp / 353 kW) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque. The mill roars like a wild beast and happily revs up to 7,000 RPM. To put things into perspective, the original was capable of 250 PS (246 hp / 182 kW) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque.

In the video, the car hits a speedway in Germany and effortlessly goes to 200 km/h (124 mph). The speedometer hand then goes full circle and firmly presses against 280 km/h (174 mph).
