Xpeng X9 gets its smartest trim version so far

The freshly patented Xpeng X9 Ultra will ship with as many as three Turing AI chips on board, reports AutoHome.cn. Designed in the house, these chips are poised to deliver unprecedented ADAS performance in both RWD and AWD versions of the minivan.

The company estimates that the system is capable of 2,250 TOPS. Two processors are tasked with data processing and analysis, while the third one underpins the infotainment system and enables the on-board electronics to communicate with the driver via the available interfaces. Tripling the normal computational power should make all responses “quick and natural”, Xpeng assures us.

On the outside, the facelifted X9 sports mildly redesigned bumpers and wheels sized 19 and 20 inches large, but little else to set it aside from the current version. It will be available with a single rear motor rated at 320 PS (316 hp / 235 kW) and a dual-motor setup with the same unit at the back and a new 184-PS (181-hp / 135-kW) unit at the front. All battery packs will be composed of lithium-ion cells only. The range figures remain to be revealed, but should be close to the current maximum of 702 km (436 miles).
