Aston Martin rolls out its next Le Mans racer

The Valkyrie AMR-LMH, praised by Aston Martin as unique on a number of levels, is set to participate in the WEC and IMSA endurance championships next year.

In the meantime, the company has published the first photos and details about its next high-end racecar. For one thing, the AMR-LMH is being advertised as the only vehicle in its class to be partially based on a production model. Specifically, it has a Valkyrie monocoque mounted on top of a carbon chassis. A 6.5-liter Cosworth V12 provides the propulsion. Aston Martin points out that it can make up to a thousand horsepower, but the actual output will be capped for compliance with the regulations.

The car is already running its first track tests, with the homologation set to begin in the fall. Only three examples will be assembled for the 2025 season. If everything goes as planned, Aston Martin will be recognized as the world’s first automaker to be present in all endurance race categories at once, plus the Formula-1.

For its own part, the company says its ultimate goal is to win the next year’s 24 Hours of the Le Mans with a top prize in the Hypercar category. The British carmaker won its last Le Mans gold in 1959.
