BMW Japan will soon open pre-order books for a special Frozen Black Edition of the 8 Series. A total of 20 units will be sold, including 5 coupes and 15 sedans.
The base specification is the 840i, which comes with a 3.0-liter turbo six-pot rated at 340 PS (335 hp / 250 kW), an eight-speed automatic transmission, and rear-wheel drive system.
The Frozen Black finish stems from the BMW Individual palette, and you can have a closer look at it in the attached video. Blacked-out elements include the exhaust tips, radiator grille, M calipers, and 728M wheels sized 21” across.
Merino leather trim inside is as luxurious as a BMW can get (unless you count Alpina’s Lavalina upholstery). M Sport seats are present, the ceiling is draped with black Alcantara, and there are black piano lacquer inserts throughout. A Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound system is pre-installed, and the sedan version additionally gets panoramic roof.
A total of 20 units will be made, including 5 coupes and 15 sedans. The former come priced at 15 million JPY before options, and the latter start 100,000 JPY above that.
