Calling a crossover SUV “an off-roader” is a stretch at best, but contemporary tuning opportunities let anyone retrofit their soft-roader into a capable overlanding vehicle given enough budget and skill. Case in point: this first-gen (E53) BMW X5.
The unitized SUV featured in the video benefits from raised suspension, meaty Westlake M/T tires wrapped around new rims, and a snorkel pipe for wading deep water. The front apron is gone, and there is a small access ladder on the tailgate to provide easy access to the roof rack. The roof itself houses a LED light bar, and the lower chassis now has skid plates protecting it from damage.
