Video: 3,200-HP Dodge Viper does a quarter mile in 6.95 seconds

There are precious few supercars in this world more powerful than the mighty Bugatti Chiron with its sixteen cylinders, four turbos and 1,500 metric horsepower. The Viper you see before you has more than twice as much, though.

The second-gen supercar rolled off the line in 2012. Its owner Sal Patel had its engine extensively modified, winding up with a new powertrain based around the original eight-liter V10 cylinder block. A pair of 88mm Garrett turbos endows the unit with most of its power. As unimaginable as that might sound, the Viper is actually road-legal in the United States.

Once finished with the tuning, Patel drove it through a quarter-mile in a record-breaking 6.96 seconds. Nine years later, his son Milan turned eighteen and was allowed a trial run. Having quickly mastered the basics of drag racing, he attempted multiple quarter-mile runs that culminated in dethroning his father by one-hundredth of a second. He also hit the finish line at 326 km/h (202 mph). Well done, Milan!
