The new Ford Bronco, especially the Raptor version, is quite a powerful and capable off-roader. Despite that, some purists believe it has to pack eight cylinders under the hood or it’s a no-go. They will appreciate to know that Juicy Motorsports has them covered with a Godzilla swap.
As the name implies, the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 vacates the engine bay in favor of Ford’s own Godzilla V8 crate engine. It features 7.3 liters of displacement and additionally benefits from a performance camshaft by Texas Speed, new cylinder heads, a high-flow air intake and a Magnaflow exhaust system.
As a result, the output goes from the Bronco Raptor’s standard 424 PS (418 hp / 312 kW) to 557 PS (550 hp / 410 kW) or so. The actual gains are even bigger, since the OEM numbers are measured at the crankshaft and the post-swap numbers are the actual power that reaches the wheels after all transmission losses.
Juicy Motorsports claims that the swap is seamless and doesn’t disrupt the functionality of any of the SUV’s electronic systems. Prices start somewhere around $57,500 for the base conversion, taxes and work included. The example seen here benefits from $10,000 in camshaft and transmission upgrades, though. Set aside yet another $10,000 if you want a supercharger.
