The Hennessey Venom F5 Roadster promises a neck-snapping experience at 300 mph

Hennessey posted the first official renderings of the topless Venom F5 in the distant year 2019, and the supercar in finally here.

The manufacturer claims that the F5 Roadster is the world’s fastest and most powerful convertible, and far be it from us to argue. Its 6.6-liter twin-turbo V8 produces 1,842 PS (1,817 hp / 1,355 kW) and up to 1,617 Nm (1,193 lb-ft) of torque. In theory, this lets it reach accelerations up to 300 mph (483 km/h) and even beyond that point. The Venom GT convertible – an earlier model – still holds the real-world record with 427.4 km/h (265.6 mph), but it probably won’t be the case for much longer.

The front of the new F5 looks indistinguishable from its coupe counterpart, while the rear end has a new tempered-glass window providing a sneak peek at the engine. The company claims the glass was originally designed for use in jet engines and can withstand temperatures in excess of 500 degrees Celsius (932 ºF).

Tipping the scales at 1,406 kilograms (3,100 pounds), the convertible weighs around 46 kg (100 lbs) more than the coupe. Hennessey plans to produce 30 units starting in late 2022, pricing each above $3,000,000 USD.
