Hennessey’s second production supercar shows up in teasers

The Texan tuning company has been producing its Venom F5 supercar for years now, so it can be considered a proper automaker. Even so, its impeding second model promises to solidify Hennessey’s standing in the niche – here’s why.

The company’s earlier communications suggested that it wanted to produce an open-top ride – a roadster or perhaps a Targa – bundled with a manual transmission and no option for automatic. Other reports claimed that the new car would be made completely in the house, including the chassis. This is important because the Venom F5 rides on Lotus Elise underpinnings.

The so-called “Project Overlord” is slated for premiere on August 3, 2026. In the meantime, we have a simple teaser image and a short video depicting what looks like a single brake light of the car and a metallic grille with round openings. It’s not enough to draw any meaningful conclusions about its body style or powertrain.

Speaking in a recent interview, Hennessey Performance CEO John Hennessey admitted that he wanted to create an American version of the Porsche Carrera GT. It sounded like a truly driver-focused, “analog” supercar devoid of modern safety aids and fancy tech gimmicks.

We should be able to learn more on Monday, August 3rd.
