Chinese luxury automaker Hongqi revealed that its plug-in hybrid hypercar – the S9 – would go on sale priced at $1,450,000, even though all earlier estimations put it within the $2,200,000 range.
The vehicle comes powered by a part-electric powertrain churning out 1,400 horsepower (1,044 kilowatts). It comprises a V-shaped gasoline eight-cylinder turbo and multiple electric motors, enabling acceleration from nothing to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in scorching fast 1.9 seconds. The manufacturer also claims that the top speed lies above 400 km/h (248 miles per hour).
The production run will be limited to 70 units.
