Next-gen Hyundai Grandeur bows with specs and features

Hyundai has lifted the veil over its new flagship, the next-generation Grandeur sedan. Some specifications remain to be revealed, but you can already get the picture.

At 5,035 millimeters (196.7 in) long with 2,895 mm (113.1 in) between the axles, the car is 45 mm (1.7 in) longer than before with 10 mm (0.4 in) of added wheelbase and 50 mm (2 in) of added rear overhang. Its interior represents a mix of latest technology and retro design, dominated by dual 12.3-inch displays. Another 10.5-inch touchscreen interface on the center console provides HVAC controls, and a heads-up display is present, too.

The new infotainment system is called ccNC (Connected Car Navigation Cockpit) and is supposed to ‘open a new chapter in intelligent mobility’, but we don’t know any details at this moment. A Bose audio system processes all sound taking the layout of the cabin into consideration.

Drive modes and ambient lighting colors change automatically based on current road conditions. The system envisions certain scenarios in which it can automatically start up the engine or active the voice assistant, improving driver’s involvement and immersion.

Four active indicators built into the steering wheel hub and a thick middle spoke pay homage to the first-gen Grandeur model, although that one didn’t have the two transverse spokes on the wheel. The transmission selector resides there, too, leaving the center tunnel clean and simple.

Going for the base version gets you a 3.5-liter engine rated at 300 PS (296 hp / 221 kW) and 359 Nm (265 lb-ft) of torque. A hybrid system based on a 1.6-liter turbo engine with 180 PS (177 hp / 132 kW) and 265 Nm (195 lb-ft) of torque is also available. The remaining specifications will be announced later, Hyundai says.
