Right now, hypercar maker Koenigsegg is focusing most of its attention on delivering the Jesko model slated to arrive next spring and set a multitude of records while drawing customers away from the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+. But once that one ships, the more practical Gemera should follow.
The hybrid four-seater coupe is set to hit production in 2023 and become the marque’s first entry in the new Mega GT lineup meant for daily driving and track days alike.
China-based firm Qoros assisted Koenigsegg in designing the engine, a two-liter, twin-turbo three-pot rated at 600 PS (592 hp / 441 kW) and 601 Nm (444 lb-ft) of torque. The company claims an engine of this design is capable of producing around 300 metric horsepower (296 hp / 221 kW) even without forced induction. A trio of electric motors will assist it for 1,723 PS (1,700 hp / 1,267 kW) and 3,500 Nm (2,581 lb-ft) of torque total.
The coupe will be able to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in 1.9 seconds and proceed to accelerate until 400 km/h (248 mph). A 16.6-kWh traction battery will grant it around 50 kilometers (31 miles) of range, while the hybrid range will be closer to 1,000 km (620 miles).
