The British sports car makes is planning on expanding its lineup with a hybrid hypercar to succeed the legendary P1 and a mysterious four-door model, Automotive News reports referencing anonymous sources in the McLaren dealership network.
The hypercar will allegedly receive a completely new powertrain that will output more power than all of its predecessors and 70% lighter at the same time. The P, which is featured in the gallery and the video here, packed 916 PS (903 hp / 674 kW) when it debuted. The newcomer may want to go a fair bit beyond 1,014 PS (1,000 hp / 746 kW) in order to stay competitive against the new Lamborghini Revuelto. The launch is expected in 2026.
Two years after that car, McLaren purportedly plans to release another brand-new model: a four-door, four-seat vehicle. Overall, it sounds like a crossover SUV to us. First, they are wildly popular right now. Second, the company’s current CEO possesses considerable experience in SUV design, Porsche Cayenne and Ferrari Purosangue being some examples.
