2023 Nissan Z gets cranked to 500+ horsepower

The new Nissan Z offers 406 PS (400 hp / 298 kW) and a four-something-second launch time in a package priced from just $40,000 in the United States. And if you think it could use a boost, Chicago-based tune-up shop AMS Performance can help you.

The standard 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 gets a different exhaust system with downpipes, enhanced cooling components and an engine tune that works best on ON100 fuel. As a result, the car happily churns out 507 PS (500 hp / 373 kW) to the wheels and runs its quarter-mile sprint in 11.43 seconds – nearly a second faster than stock.

The important thing to note is that AMS used 28-inch Hoosier drag radials for the test, which must have influenced the outcome considerably. Even so, the company posted another test results, saying that you can get 446 wheel PS (440 hp / 328 kW) out of the engine running on regular ON 93 gas.
