Wildest Pagani Huayra R racer debuts with V12, 838 HP

Carmaker Pagani is not too prolific with its releases, having only made two car models in almost 30 years. But just as the Zonda gradually grew stronger in its countless special editions, so does the Huayra.

The Huayra R revealed this week is a racetrack-only hypercar that packs a unique engine built from the ground up with the assistance of HWA AG Racing. A six-speed, non-synchronized, sequential gearbox hits the rear wheels with up to 850 PS (838 hp / 625 kW) and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque.

A new carbon-titanium chassis the racer is built around guarantees it low weight, while the aerodynamic kit produces around 1,000 kilograms (2,200 pounds) of downforce at 320 km/h (199 mph).

The production run will be limited to 30 units priced from €2.6 million.
