Positioned as a hypercar with a strictly limited production run, the Porsche 918 Spyder is a true exotic with impressive specs. It cost $800,000 when new and has risen to around a million USD since then. But how will it fare against the company’s latest 911?
Carwow decided to find out – after all, very few can afford a genuine 918 Spyder. Racing against it in the video is a normal 911 Turbo S (992), which is powered by a 3.8-liter flat-six engine with dual turbos, 650 PS (641 hp / 478 kW), and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque. The modern coupe weighs 1,674 kilos (3,690 pounds).
In turn, the black-and-white Soyder uses a 4.6-liter naturally aspirated V8 in tandem with two electric motors for a combined output of 887 PS (875 hp / 652 kW) and 1,280 Nm (944 lb-ft) of torque. It is also marginally lighter at 1,640 kilos (3,615 pounds).
With the scales obviously in the latter’s favor, do you think there is any chance for the Turbo S to keep up?
