Ram has reported selling out the entire pilot batch of 500 Rampage pickups in Brazil in a matter of 28 minutes.
The sale took place online. The company reacted quickly and put up another 1,100 units for sale, but they were also swept off the metaphorical shelves. This is rather impressive considering that the model is by no means cheap: it starts from 240,000 Brazilian Real, or nearly 50,000 USD.
All early orders get rewarded by an exclusive trim package called Elite Pack. It includes a power-adjustable front passenger seat, a Harman Kardon 10-speaker sound system, adaptive cruise control, a digital instrument panel and a two-zone climate control, among other things. A multimedia system with a 12.3-inch display and Android Auto/Apple CarPlay support is also mentioned.
The Rampage is a 5-meter (16.4-foot) long truck for Latin American markets that comes with a choice between a 2.0-liter diesel engine rated at 170 PS (168 hp / 125 kW) and a 1.5-liter petrol turbo mill capable of 272 PS (268 hp / 200 kW). It has a nine-speed transmission and all-wheel drive in all versions.
Whether the pickup will ever become available in North America remains unknown.
