Renault to auction off a hundred of exotics

Renault plans to reform its historical vehicle collection before opening a new museum. Some of the less exotic cars will be sold by the auction house Artcurial on December 7, 2025. There are several dozens of them, including both street-legal models and award-winning race cars.

The full list of the models is pending, but we are told that there will be approximately 100 cars to bid for, including two dozen racers. There will be a 1983 RE40 chassis, a 1975 Alpine A442 prototype, a Renault-Lotus 95T and a RE30 B9, the company says. Aside from cars, the auction will feature a hundred of museum exhibits such as engines and vehicle mockups (design studies).

The French automaker plans to leave only one representative of each model on display at its in-house automotive museum. The exposition will still feature vehicles produced starting from the year 1898 and will still contain multiple modifications of select models, but never two identical models. It will be opened in the Flins-sur-Seine Commune near Paris, France in 2027. That’s actually where Renault produced many of its iconic rides, such as the Dauphine, the 5 and several generations of the Clio. The grand sale will take place at the same location this year, just don’t expect to see the museum there (it’s still under construction).
