8th-gen Hyundai Elantra spied on the street

Hyundai is targeting the sporty N Vision 74 Concept as the main design inspiration for the eighth-generation Elantra, Korean Car Blog claims posting images as proof. At the same time, ShortsCar on YouTube has a whole video showing the car in full camo.

The footage isn’t particularly detailed, but you can see the edgy front end clearly styled after the N Vision 74. The witnesses add that the car had “lots of bold straight lines”, “rectangles” and “a striking LED stripe at the front”.

While we don’t have any official confirmation yet, the new Elantra sounds like a coupe-like sedan with a gently sloping roofline and beefier rear fenders. That’s a description that belongs on an American pony car, and we actually expect it to look like that.

Rumor has it that the powertrain options will stay the same, but with major updates. Current Elantra buyers are choosing between a 1.6-liter petrol engine and a hybrid system.

We should be able to learn more closer to the premiere, which is expected before the end of the year.
