Toyota is thinking about expanding its GR lineup by adding a new sedan to it, Motor Trend reports quoting Bob Carter, the company’s VP in the United States.
It looks like the performance saloon will be a Camry. Although the Corolla is another possibility, its hatchback version already has a Gazoo Racing spec available. Once such a Camry comes out, it may make life hard for the Korean Hyundai Sonata N-Line and the Kia K5 GT.
Carter also pointed out that the GR division was not going to design a powerful ICE crossover, while the all-electric bZ4X was a much better fit for the role.
The Toyota Camry is already available with extra engine thrust in some countries. For example, there is the Camry TRD in the USA, which combines aggressive looks with sporty suspension upgrades and a 3.5-liter V6 rated at 305 PS (300 hp / 224 kW). You can find it in our gallery and the video here.
