The commercial transports division of Volkswagen has posted some images of the upcoming Crafter van facelift. The model will be redesigned in the same vein as the company’s all-electric ID lineup, but the underlying tech will stay the same. The release is planned for the spring of 2024.
The main novelty comes in the form of a 12.9-inch, latest-gen infotainment system. The interface is the same as that of the recently revealed ID.Buzz, so it should actually look and feel up to date. Accompanying it is a digital dashboard preloaded with a variety of data display presets to suit everyone’s taste. The hardware buttons, on the other hand, are basically non-existent in the new van.
The transmission selector sits on the steering column now, and the parking brake is electro-mechanical, freeing up space around the driver’s seat and enabling it to be adjusted in a wider range of positions. The multi-function wheel design is also new.
It looks like the Crafter shown in the preview pics is a high-end trim level, though. The base trim might still get analog instruments or a traditional gear lever on a ‘pedestal’ in the middle. This remains to be seen.
