Volkswagen has announced the end of production of Gol, a hatchback it had produced in South America for 42 years and the marque’s most successful car in Brazil. Before it can go, though, fans will be able to treat themselves to the Gol Last Edition.
All details will be revealed later, but official teaser pics suggest that the send-off version comes adorned with black accents and commemorative lettering. It is also based on the top trim level.
With the Gol gone, the next most affordable Volkswagen car in Brazil will be Polo Track, which utilizes a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine rated at just 84 PS (83 hp / 62 kW). It is essentially identical to the Polo for Europe except for a different front end and fewer equipment options. The list still mentions an AC, front power windows, four airbags, power steering and ESP.
