Patriot Campers to build 20 army-style campers

Australia-based motorhome builder Patriot Campers has unveiled a special edition of its X1-N camper trailer. Dubbed the Desert Ops, it will emerge in a limited run of just 20 copies.

Despite the belligerent exterior, the attachment is designed strictly for civil use. It has a retro vibe to it, rides on huge 35-inch wheels, and measures 3.6 meters (11.8 ft.) long and 1.8 m (5.9 ft.) wide. The curb weight amounts to 828 kilograms (1,825 lbs).

The functionality is pretty much the same as that of the regular X1-N. You can use the truck bed to carry various kinds of tents, canoes, bikes and expedition racks. A 155-liter (UK: 34.1 gal, US: 40.9 gal) fresh water tank is located at the bottom, and there is a shower, a kitchenette with a stove, a fridge, a sink and storage cabinets for cutlery and other items.

The Desert Ops additionally features a 270-degree unfolding tent that can provide protection from the elements for passengers in the kitchen or the back part of the trailer.

Whereas the standard X1-N costs $30,900 to buy in Australia, the Desert Ops comes at a $1,000 premium.
