LCE Performance turns Audi Quattro into a bonkers 1,000-HP rally car

Long gone are the times when rally events featured real racecars – dangerously powerful and often difficult to handle, but always a sight to behold. The likes of Hyundai i20 and VW Polo have long since taken their place. But the Group B fame lives on, and this custom Audi Sport Quattro would make any Group B driver proud.

Designed by German tuner shop LCE Performance, the base vehicle is essentially a first-gen Audi Quattro (or ‘Ur-Quattro’, as Germans call it). It sports a completely new body made of carbon fiber; inside, even the seats and the entire dashboard are made of the same lightweight material.

This becomes especially impressive once you learn the performance specs. The Quattro’s stock 2.5-liter five-cylinder mill has been pushed from its usual 600 hp (447 kW) to stellar 1,081 hp (806 kW) and 1,018 Nm (751 lb-ft) of torque. This necessitated raising the turbocharger pressure as high as 3.4 bar, among countless other mods, but the result was well worth it. Despite being a rally car, the Audi Sport Quattro by LCE can reportedly hit 330 km/h (205 mph) going in a straight line – but shouldn’t, given its short body and wheelbase.
