LE NOVITÀ
Audi has expanded its A6 family by introducing a sedan that’s already in production in Neckarsulm, Germany. Preorders will start in a few days, but the first deliveries won’t be made until summer. Prices begin at €55,500.
The entry-level A6 commands a 2.0-liter petrol engine rated at 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW) and 340 Nm (335 hp / 250 kW). It drives the front wheels through a 7-speed S-tronic DCT. The saloon needs 8.2 seconds to go from standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) and maxes out at 244 km/h (151 mph).
Paying a bit extra gets you a more advanced turbo diesel hybrid. The main engine makes 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque, while a 48V starter-generator delivers up to 24 PS (24 hp / 18 kW) and 230 Nm (170 lb-ft) extra via a belt drive when necessary. It also serves as a regenerative brake unit storing power in a 1.7-kWh LFP battery. The front-wheel-drive version has a 7.8-second sprint time and the same top speed as its petrol counterpart mentioned above.
Should you need it, you can order this turbo diesel version with quattro ultra AWD. Aside from improved handling, it gives you a shorter sprint (6.9 seconds) and only marginally lower top speed of 243 km/h (150 mph).
Finally, the flagship spec is also a mild hybrid, but one that makes 367 PS (362 hp / 270 kW) and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) thanks to a 3.0-liter petrol V6. It has four driven wheels by default and reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) in mere 4.7 seconds. The top speed is capped at 250 km/h (155 mph).
