Bizarre Ferrari EV spotted testing

Ferrari’s first-ever fully electric vehicle is running on the public roads again, looking weirder than ever, Motor1 reports. Check out the gallery above and compare to the earlier version of the same car in the video, then let us know what you think.

The spy photographer claims that the car wore fake body panels to conceal its exterior, which looked almost production-ready. This sounds interesting because the only Ferrari model we can think of when looking at this one is the 250 GT Breadvan, an oddly endearing classic from the 1960s. The front end looks more or less normal for a modern Ferrari, but the rear is that of a station wagon. Is the Maranello HQ really developing a family car? The overhangs also look a bit overlong, but that could be due to all the fake bodywork used to conceal the real exterior.

We’d suggest waiting for the official reveal to draw any conclusions, but the problem is, it won’t happen anytime soon. Ferrari promises to talk about certain features and technologies on October 9, but the full premiere remains scheduled for “early 2026”. Actual customer deliveries are expected to begin at the end of the next year, with prices rumored to start from $500,000.

In July 2024, Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna revealed that multiple prototypes of the company’s first fully electric car had traveled “several thousand kilometers”. Back then, unofficial sources claimed that the company was actually developing two EVs side-by-side. They later said that all launch plans were scrapped due to low customer interest.

For its own part, Ferrari has almost never commented on its electrification plans. Around two months ago, the supercar maker broke the silence to say that it never “postponed” any “EV releases” because it “never announced any specific electric vehicles in the first place.” That’s fair game, we suppose.
