BMW’s least serious 2-Series gets implemented in metal

Dubai-based tuner Zeus Offroad has built a badass-looking Safari car with a BMW M240i coupe as the starting point. The Bavarian automaker teased just such a vehicle around a year ago, but it ended up being an April Fools’ joke.

Apparently, Zeus Offroad didn’t get the memo, because their take on the rally-capable “M2 Dakar” looks and sounds like it means business. Among other things, it features a 76-mm (3-inch) suspension lift, shortened bumpers optimized for the terrain, a robust skid plate, and some recovery eyes. It also benefits from fender flares and mudflaps – both useful on dirt roads.

A look at the roof reveals a Thule expedition rack with a couple of LED bars in front, and a peek under the rear bumper makes it clear that the exhaust system isn’t stock, either. It now exits via two neat finishers grouped in the middle of the rear end.

A set of 17-inch aftermarket wheels wrapped in meaty off-road tires wraps up the project. The 3.0-liter inline-six mill under the hood continues to send its usual 388 PS (382 hp / 285 kW) to the rear wheels.

There’s no mention of a price, but the company built a whole Porsche Panamera in a similar vein not long ago. That car was a one-off commission from a wealthy Porsche fan. We suppose the same applies to this project.
