Outracing a Bugatti is made effortless thanks to a newer Bugatti

A YouTube video has recently gone viral showing a gorgeous Bugatti Veyron going up against a much more powerful Chiron on a mile-long stretch of a runway. Both managed to surpass 300 km/h (186 miles per hour), but one left the other for dead nonetheless.

The introduction of a quad-turbo, eight-liter W16 rated at 1,001 PS (987 hp / 736 kW) in 2006 made the Bugatti Veyron one of the most powerful cars in the world at the time of launch. However, a decade later, the company came up with the Chiron, an even more insane hypercar extracting 1,500 PS (1,479 hp / 1,103 kW) from the same cylinder block.

As expected, the difference in power left no chance for the elderly Veyron, with its rival jumping the start and increasing the gap until the finish. While the Veyron hit 305 km/h (189.5 mph) at the finish line, the Chiron managed to hit 320 km/h (199 mph).

For those who want to go even faster than that, the automaker has recently started deliveries of the Chiron Super Sport 300+, a car equipped with a 1,600-PS (1,578-hp / 1,177-kW) engine and a special aerodynamic package that enables it to hit 440 km/h (273.4 mph).
