Tuning auto
While the eighth generation of the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 promises us unparalleled performance straight from the factory, a properly tuned old-gen example can do at least as good – or better.
This video comes from Hennessey Performance, which offers two power-up options for the C7 Z06 – one rated at 850 hp (862 PS / 634 kW) and the other one at 1,000 hp (1,014 PS / 745 kW). The video demonstrates what the first one is capable of.
Included in the package are new cylinder heads, pushrods, valves, a pulley, high-performance air intake components, a sports-grade intercooler, a purpose-designed camshaft, and special catalysts.
As a result, the coupe needs only 2.6 seconds to snap from standstill to 97 km/h (60 miles) per hour. It also covers a quarter of a mile in 10.3 seconds, reaching 219 km/h (136 mph) towards the finish.
Note that, while the video shows an automatic Z06, Hennessey will upgrade stick-shift variants as well.
