A new premium automaker named Yuanhang (translated as ‘Journey’) has attended the Chengdu show with four electric cars based on the same platform and set to reach the market next year.
According to CarNewsChina, the new marque is a part of Dayun Group, a corporation primarily known for its trucks and commercial transports. The two staple models of the new lineups are SUVs named H8 and H9. The former is 5,230 mm long with 3,125 mm of wheelbase, while the latter is 10 mm shorter with the same distance between the axles. The differences are slight and largely visual.
Both SUVs come powered by dual electric motors available in a number of versions. The top specification commands enviable 680 PS (671 hp / 500 kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque. The dash panel accommodates two displays 12.3 and 17.4 inches large, and the car offers two HUDs on top of that. The driver’s HUD projects its impressive 70-inch large image onto the windshield, while the passenger’s projector illuminates the headliner. Two- and three-row cabin layouts are expected.
Next up in line is an electric sedan called Y6. Its styling is similar to that of the H8, but its dimensions are slightly larger at 5,270 mm long with 3,130 mm of wheelbase. The car sprints 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.5 seconds and offers up to 1,000 kilometers (621 miles) of range.
The coupe-shaped Y7 saloon shapes up to be the brand’s flagship of sorts, judging by such features as wing-like front doors and a luxurious interior with a squared-off steering wheel. The size and specs are similar to the other three cars, but it looks like the Y7 will be marketed towards high-end sports car enthusiasts and the Y6 towards those in the market for an executive sedan. The company itself isn’t too generous with the details.
All four EVs run on a proprietary platform co-designed with Huawei and make use of Alibaba OS infotainment software. 800V power architecture ensures that just 10 minutes spent at a charger gets you 300 kilometers (186 miles) of range.
Sales are slated to begin in May 2023.
