Dacia has taken the wraps off its third-generation Logan sedan, Sandero hatchback and Sandero Stepway crossover hatch. All three boast new looks and tech courtesy of the new CMF-B platform.
The trio is now technologically related to the Renault Clio, the EU-spec Renault Arkana, and the Nissan Juke. Among other things, it translates into some extra wheelbase length – although the manufacturer does not provide any specific numbers right now.
The Logan gains 36 millimeters (1.4 inches) of length and 42 mm (1.6”) of rear seat legroom. Its trunk gains 18 liters of volume and thus amounts to 528l (18.65 cubic feet) total.
The Sandero stays nearly identical to its predecessor in terms of dimensions while benefiting from slightly wider track. The normal hatchback now commands 133 millimeters (5.2 inches) of ground clearance, while its lifted Stepway sibling has 174 mm (6.8 inches). The latter also sports redesigned bumpers, radiator grille, fenders, roof rails and hood cover. Both have 328 liters (11.58 cubic feet) of trunk space.
The standard spec includes LED headlights, electric power steering, comfortable front seats, six airbags, and an emergency call function. Paid extras include automatic emergency braking, blind zone monitoring, parking and hill climb assists, heated front seats and climate control. Sandero buyers may additionally treat themselves to a power-assisted glass sunroof.
The multimedia system comes in three variants to choose from. Media Control supports basic smartphone connectivity, USB and Bluetooth, and has two speakers along with a very basic 3.5-inch TFT display. Media Display benefits from an 8-inch touch-enabled display, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, and four speakers. Media Nav complements the latter list with satellite navigation, wireless gadget connectivity and six or more speakers.
The 1.5-liter turbo diesel leaves the palette for good, leaving only gasoline three-cylinders with the Start-Stop feature on offer. The entry-level Logan and Sandero both ship with a 1.0-liter, non-turbo mill rated at 65 hp (48 kW) and a five-speed manual transmission. You may opt for a turbocharged version good for 90 hp (67 kW), which can be obtained in six-speed manual and CVT versions. The Dacia Easy'R automated manual transmission is no longer available. One final option comes in the form of a 100-hp (75-kW) engine that pairs up with six-speed manual and can consume gasoline and condensed natural gas (CNG) for fuel. With both its 50-liter gas cylinder and 50-liter petrol tank maxed out, this spec can cover up to 1,300 kilometers (808 miles).
