A military off-roader from the ‘40s lives again as a 717-PS restomod

U.S.-based restoration firm Desert Power Wagons has unveiled its latest work: the Hawk. It took 3,000 hours for the restoration crew to refurbish the body and chassis of the late-1940s-era Dodge WC. The result can be yours – provided you can stomach the $500,000 asking price.

We don’t know how old the truck is, but military off-roaders like this one used to be made around 80 years ago until Dodge phased them out with a road-legal Power Wagon model. Understandably, the stock engine no longer resides under the hood, swapped out for a 6.2-liter Dodge Challenger V8.

A supercharger helps the mill deliver 717 PS (707 hp / 527 kW) via a four-speed automatic transmission. King Shocks in the suspension and 18-inch wheels wrapped in 37-inch Toyo tires sum up for a more up-to-date driving experience.

While the bodywork and the chassis were partly preserved, the interior needed a full overhaul. It ended up with Dakota Digital instruments, an audio system cobbled up from Rockford Fosgate and JL Audio components, ambient lighting and other modern niceties.

Whoever buys the truck will also get a small trailer cart with their purchase. Check out the video above for a closer look at another Dodge WC conversion carried out by Desert Power Wagons around four years ago.
