Dongfeng launches the Paladin, a Nissan X-Terra clone for China

The Dongfeng Paladin is a body-on-frame SUV for China based on the vehicle known in other countries as Nissan Tuda, Terra, and X-Terra (see video).

AutoHome is reporting that the Chinese version has different headlights, bumpers and badges, but otherwise looks the same as the other versions. The only engine available is a 2.0-liter petrol four-pot turbocharged to 228 PS (225 hp / 168 kW). The original X-Terra also ships with a diesel engine, but diesels aren’t popular in China, so the Paladin has none.

It still boasts a body-on-frame design and uses a reduction gear alongside two inter-wheel differentials to send the momentum to all four wheels. The transmission is eight-speed automatic.

Inside, there is a 12-inch infotainment system screen not available in any Nissan counterpart worldwide. The available feature list mentions a transparent hood and a number of driving assists, such as adaptive cruise control.
