Video: 1,000-HP Ford F-150 gets compared against a stock Ram TRX

Hennessey Performance has developed a questionable habit of drawing lopsided comparisons between vastly different cars. One of their latest videos pits a stock Ram 1500 TRX pickup against a strongly tuned Ford F-150 Raptor R. The difference between the two is bordering on 300 horsepower, but sure.

In case you needed a reminder, the recently-discontinued TRX packs a supercharged V8 with 712 PS (702 hp / 524 kW) and 881 Nm (650 lb-ft) of torque at its disposal. Hennessey hasn’t touched this example before the race.

In contrast, the F-150 seen here rocks a package called VelociRaptor 1000, which endows it with 1,057 PS (1,043 hp / 777 kW) and 1,152 Nm (850 lb-ft) of torque. No wonder that the TRX loses its first standing drag race and then forfeits another one despite getting a moderate head start.

Which reminds us: Hennessey actually has a tuning kit in store for the Ram truck as well. Dubbed the Mammoth 1000, it raises the engine power to almost the same number as the F-150 here and boosts the torque to an even more impressive 1,313 Nm (968 lb-ft). One has to wonder how the two pickups would have compared if both had been tuned instead of just one.
