Having essentially discontinued light passenger cars in Europe in favor of SUVs and crossovers, Ford has arguably lost an important part of the market there. The automaker is now preparing a comeback with what looks like five new models, seemingly including an electric Fiesta and a trimmed-down, unibody Bronco.
The company itself hasn’t posted any details yet, but it posted a teaser image showing five draped-over vehicles. These seem to include three SUVs, a light car and something like a body-on-frame off-roader, although it could as well be a rugged SUV. The media speculate that the car is an all-electric Fiesta running on the company’s AmpR Small platform for EVs.
As for the Bronco, Ford sells a unibody crossover under that name in China. It has very little to do with its U.S. counterpart and is a simpler, cheaper vehicle overall. It looks like Europe may be getting it next. Rumors are trickling in that the production will be localized in Spain in 2028.
The remaining three models are not as easily predicted. We suppose that the Blue Oval needs to refresh its Kuga and Puma crossover offerings in Europe, so that covers two out of the three SUVs depicted above. Both are expected to move to a superior platform and become hybrids, so there probably won’t be much linking them to their previous generations.
