EPA finds Ford Maverick Hybrid even more fuel-efficient than claimed

Apparently, Ford may have played it safe when claiming that the upcoming hybrid variant of the Maverick pickup has an average fuel consumption of 40 MPG (5.8 liters per 100 km).

According to EPA, the vehicle tends to spend 5.6 liters per 100 km, which corresponds to 42 MPG. A full tank thus yields over 500 miles (805+ kilometers) of range, all for a price as low as $19,995 before options.

The Maverick Hybrid has 2.5 liters of displacement and 194 PS (191 hp / 143 kW) at its disposal. ICE car fans may still opt for an EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder capable of 254 PS (250 hp / 187 kW). The company has already reported registering over 100,000 pre-orders for the model.
