Meet Ford Mustang GTD, a $300k pony for road and track

The seventh-gen Ford Mustang family has greeted its latest member – a special edition called GTD. The car is loosely inspired by IMSA’s GT Daytona class which also includes the GT3 series. However, unlike a true GT3 racer, it is not bound by any specific regulations.

This means the GTD is a car built for the road and the racetrack with adaptive suspension and active aerodynamic parts. When in Track mode, it drops its ride height by 40 mm (1.6 inches).

Ford manufactures the front splitter, the trunk lid, the rear diffuser, the side sills and fenders, the hood and the roof out of carbon fiber to minimize weight. Paying extra gets you even more carbon parts all around, including a rear wing.

Power comes from a 5.2-liter V8 engine rated ‘above 800 horsepower’. We will learn the specifics closer to the launch in late 2024. Prices will start from $300,000.
