Shelby Mustang GT350 chugs E85 easily after a software update, gains +50 hp

U.S. tuner Livernois Motorsports made an interesting find working with the 2019 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350. Apparently, it benefits greatly from the E85 ethanol/gasoline mixture after a simple software tweak.

All that is necessary to support E85 is to tell the engine control unit the correct operational values. Once done, the muscle car can use the mixture as its main fuel, and the performance rises from 526 hp (392 kW) to above 580 hp (433 kW).

Livernois Motorsports claims the modification is risk-free because ethanol burns out more completely than gasoline. Most importantly, it says you could use a mix between regular ON93 gas and ethanol, or even just the gas when mixing isn’t an option – the car would still remain perfectly drivable with the new software.
