ARB rolls out a Ranger Raptor package for the sands of Australia

Customers Down Under can visit a Ford dealership to order a Ranger pickup with a new Desert Pack upgrade. It adds a little bit of styling and utility, making the truck as suitable for desert driving as it will ever be right off the showroom.

Co-designed with the local tuning company ARB, it is a Raptor spec upgraded with Nacho Quatro LED lamps for nighttime driving, a roll bar behind the cab and assorted graphics and decals (optional). The interior makes do with all-season floor mats, and that is pretty much it.

Same tech means that the pickup still uses a 3.0-liter, twin-turbo V6 to push 397 PS (392 hp / 292 kW) along with 583 Nm (430 lb-ft) of torque to the wheels. Ford has a couple of warnings about the pack, too. One is that the roll bar prevents the OEM power roller shutter from closing completely. To circumvent this, buyers are advised to go for the optional Real Truck Power Roller Shutter. The other warning concerns the radio: the new LED lamps interfere with the reception, so drivers will have to choose between always having good signal and seeing the road at night.

The entire package comes priced at just under 6,000 AUD, which converts into U.S. $3,900. The truck itself starts from 90,690 AUD on the Southern continent, or $59,500.
