Ford Transit Custom looks like a jumbo hot hatch with an in-house body kit

The Ford Transit Custom family welcomes its latest member: the MS-RT, a sported-up commercial van that looks like a hatchback on steroids while keeping the powertrain untouched.

Changes start at the front bumper, which now looks more aggressive thanks to a splitter and larger air intakes. Flared fenders are accompanied by color-matched side sill extensions. A new bumper with an imitated diffuser and four exhaust finishers dominates the rear end, and a sizable spoiler can be found on the roof.

The in-house tuner goes as far as to claim that all parts serve a practical purpose improving the aerodynamic profile of the van. If true, that should translate to slightly improved handling and fuel economy. New rims shod in Goodyear Eagle Sport 235/45 R19 tires shave 1 kg (2.2 lbs) of weight off each wheel. Customers get to choose from a number of new, vivid exterior color options, but the brake calipers stay blue regardless.

Inside, the seats come with larger bolsters and a black/blue trim that combines eco-leather with Alcantara. The steering wheel flaunts blue stitching and a zero-hour mark. Climate control and a reversing camera are included in the base spec.

All powertrains and weight ratings stay the same. The van is rated for 1,124 kg (2,478 lbs) of cargo and has 6.8 cubic meters (240 cubic feet) of space for it. You can choose between diesel, plug-in hybrid and electric. The pricing details are still pending, but you can already order the MS-RT package from authorized Ford dealerships in Europe.
