Foton announces General, a pickup with Ford F-150 Raptor styling

Chinese carmaker Foton has shared photos of two new models it will be premiering at the Auto China show in Beijing starting on September 26, 2020. One of these bears an uncanny similarity to the Ford F-150 Raptor.

The mid-sized Foton General comes to the market with an assortment of turbocharged four-cylinder engines – gasoline and diesel – ranging from 2.0 to 2.5 liters of displacement. The entry-level gas motor churns out 238 hp (177 kW), while the most affordable diesel pumps out 390 Nm (288 lb-ft) of torque. The transmission is eight-speed automatic in all cases.

The other pickup truck is a bit of a mystery. It goes without a name right now and is said to be a luxury model. Powering it is a turbocharged diesel engine assisted by a 48-volt starter-generator and nine-speed auto. The company says gasoline and full-electric options will also be available later.
