GAC Hyptec A800 presents specs

Hyptec, a Chinese automaker from the GAC Group, has opened preorders for its all-new A800 sedan. The prices are still unknown, but nearly all specifications are available.

The A800 is a full-size saloon coming in at 5,130 mm (200.4 inches) long, 1,966 mm (76.8 in) wide and 1,500 mm (58.6 in) tall with 3,020 mm (118 in) between the axles. It features modern frameless doors, a two-part panoramic roof, stacked headlights and a single brake light spanning the width of the rear end.

Like before, Huawei provides most of the infotainment and ADAS tech for the cabin. There’s a modestly sized digital dashboard, a 15.6-inch multimedia touchscreen in the middle, and a transmission stalk at the steering column. The center tunnel houses two wireless charging pads.

For the powertrain, customers have four specs to choose from although full details remain to be announced. As a range-extender hybrid, the Hyptec A800 utilizes a 1.5-liter, 160-PS (158-hp / 118-kW) petrol engine to generate power for its electric motors. The first three specs are RWD, while the topmost one is AWD. Rumors claim the single-motor specs all use a 272-PS (268-hp / 200-kW) motor and the AWD spec takes advantage of three motors with a total of 598 PS (590 hp / 440 kW), but this is still unconfirmed.

In its most basic trim version, the Hyptec A800 features active adaptive suspension, a two-zone HVAC and a 3D surround audio system. Paying for higher trim levels unlocks ADAS features, up to 12 airbags and an Augmented Reality HUD.

One of the more interesting features of the car comes in the shape of a transforming rear bench seat. At a push of a button, the seat raises its middle portion while retracting its back, forming what essentially looks like two large separate seats with an improvised console between them.
