Hyptec A800 pricing and trim details announced

The all-electric GAC Hyptec A800 saloon has been available for preordering in China for a while now, but the company has only just posted the main specifications. There seem to be four trims to choose from and plenty of features to enjoy regardless of your choice.

In its most basic form, the sedan measures 5,130 x 1,966 x 1,492 mm (200.4 x 76.8 x 58.3 inches) large with 3,020 mm (118 inches) between the axles. Higher trims add body kit parts that make the car longer and taller. The trunk size starts from 350 liters (12.36 cubic feet) and depends on your other choices.

Interior highlights include an 8.8-inch digital dashboard, a 15.6-inch infotainment display, a two-zone climate control system and a transmission lever mounted on the steering column. Heated/ventilated front seats, a 21-speaker audio setup and a single wireless charging pad are included in the base trim. The driver gets adaptive cruise control, surround-view cameras and radars, emergency brake, and lane control.

Paying extra unlocks things like a heads-up display, anti-frost door handles, and Huawei’s ADS 4 semi-autonomous driving package complete with a LiDAR. Finally, the top trim brings along air-cushioned suspension, leather fit-and-finish, a thermal box, and heated/massage-enabled seats all around. At a push of a button, the rear bench seat can be turned into two individual seats with a raised console between them – the feature is standard for the top trim and available in the rest of the lineup.

Power for the rear wheels comes from a serial-hybrid system comprising an internal combustion engine and one or more e-motors. The entry-level spec gets just one e-motor with 272 PS (268 hp / 200 kW) and 305 Nm (225 lb-ft) of torque going to the rear end. The top spec boasts as many as three e-motors and sends 598 PS (590 hp / 440 kW) along with 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque heading to all four wheels.

All-electric range is capped at 220 km (136 miles) for the RWD version and 200 km (124 mi) for AWD, but exceeds 1,000 km (621 mi) once you fire up the engine. Sprint times from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) range from 7.4 to 4.4 seconds.

Prices in China start from 189,800 Yuan before incentives, which translates into U.S. $27,500. There are active incentives for the GAC Hyptec A800 right now, though, so price-minded buyers will find ways to get it for less.
