Part-electric Haval Big Dog gets a range boost in China

Haval has announced an upcoming new modification of its Big Dog crossover, alternatively known as the Dagou and the H7. Whereas the old version maxed out at 150 km (93 miles) of all-electric range, the new one can do 200 km (124 mi) in all-electric mode, letting it finally exceed 1,000 km (621 mi) in hybrid mode.

The automaker hasn’t mentioned any specific modifications to the car, but we suspect the extra miles are mostly owing to a larger battery pack. Like before, the SUV uses a 1.5-liter engine and two e-motors to send a combined 370 PS (365 hp / 272 kW) to the wheels.

The Big Dog was facelifted just a year ago gaining the suffix “Plus” to its name, so we wouldn’t expect this new long-range version to look any different inside or outside. As for the pricing, the current model starts from 173,800 CNY, which converts into 25,500 USD. The new one will likely pack a considerable premium.

As with the standard Haval H7 hybrid, this one may eventually go on sale outside of China, but the company hasn’t revealed any such plans yet.
